Help a SSCDR Sanctuary Dog

There are times when we rescue dogs that are not adoptable. Some dogs have behavioral issues and some have medical issues. These dogs are ones who will stay within our rescue and will live out their lives with us.

If you would like to sponsor a dog, please use the DONATE button at the bottom of the page and the money will go directly to that dog for vet bills, training, food, toys, etc.

Teddy

DOB:  October 3, 2012

Teddy is a Dachshund mix. Teddy was abandoned in an apartment building in CT. He had 2 broken back legs, and a fractured pelvis, at which, his left femur was so severly broken, they wanted to amputate his left leg but could not because of the severity of the broken bones in his right leg. Since then, he has healed, but because of the severity of the broken bones in his back legs, Teddy will need medical attention throughout his life. We were told he may need a wheelchair down the road, and a possible amputation of his left leg. He takes a pain pill or medicam whenever he is in pain and takes Dasuquin every day..

Teddy is a happy go lucky dog, and loves to cuddle. Teddy is bonded with Sparky.

Teddy is not up for adoption.

Sadie was severely abused and was tossed in an clothes drop-off bin, at a deserted mall during a very hot summer week. We do not know how long she was in that bin. She has huge trust issues with humans. Sadie is very loving, that is, if she earns your trust, and loves to give you lots of wet kisses. She has seen 3 trainers, and sadly, all three said that she cannot be helped. She made have brain damage from being in that hot clothes bin for all those hot days. We love Sadie and accept her as she is, and she is welcomed to stay with us until the end.

Baloo

DOB :  September 15, 2005

Baloo is a senior Staffordshire Terrier/Siberian Husky mix. We rescued Baloo on October 9, 2013 from Coventry Animal Shelter. She was an animal cruelty case along with her sister Precious, where they both spent 8 months in the shelter before they were able to be released. Precious was able to be adopted out, but Baloo will remain within our rescue because of her age and all her medical issues. Baloo is in a loving foster home with Allison and David. Because of her medical issues, she takes 6 pills a day to keep her healthy. Baloo has Thyroid issues, chronic coughing, liver issues, kidney/bladder stones and arthritis pain. She takes Milk Thistle to help keep her liver levels stable. She is also on special dog food for kidney and bladder stones. She also takes Dasuquin for all her joints. Prescription medication (Gabapentin for pain and Theophylline for Thyroid) alone for the month, costs us $70 a month and this does not count the special food, Milk Thistle and Dasuquin. We are always in need of Pill Pockets for Baloo for all her pills she takes a day.

Baloo is not adoptable.

If you would like to help Baloo with her yearly vet bills, please use this link and donate for Baloo ... https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=-kLilpipAlLDKY1vYIP7MR1eL6G-FMvb9awLb8g7ffw7cCGysTLyjikK1pcnHQok7DMkw0

Papi

DOB:  May 1, 2006

Papi is a senior Chihuahua who was a breeder dog and when they were done with him, they abandoned him along with 3 other female dogs and took only the 5 puppies. Papi had many health issues when we took him in. He had an enlarged prostrate from not being neutered, liver levels were high, blood work was out of control, urinary infections, and all his teeth were so rotten with about a 1/4 inch of tartar on each tooth and he had an infection in his jaw. After we got all his medical issues under control, he was neutered and sadly, he had to have all his teeth removed. His teeth were so bad and with the infection in his jaw, that with every tooth that was pulled, puss oozed out. His jaw bone was so weak from the infection, that when they pulled the last back molar, his jaw fractured. It was wired for 4 months. He is no longer grumpy, except at the vet, lol, and now is a happy little old man.

Papi is not available for adoption as of yet.
